Harp music for your wedding,

It's the moment you've been waiting for - you and your wedding party making a grand entrance and walking down the aisle.

But what music will you select for your classical wedding ceremony? Music has the power to set a mood, bring to mind emotion, and give moment unique character. Classical music is a traditional choice for wedding ceremonies.

The music at your wedding should be something to treasure forever - don't let it be something you would rather just forget.

If you desire to make your ceremony unique choose the harp for wedding music.

Stages in classical wedding

You can think of your classical wedding as having four "stages" when selecting your harp music.

  • Prelude
  • Processional
  • Ceremony
  • Recessional
Prelude in Classical Wedding

The prelude is harp background music played prior to the wedding ceremony, while the guests are arriving and being seated. It is usually 15 - 30 minutes in length, depending on the wedding ceremony location and the number of guests.

During this time, you may wish to play quiet, meditative pieces or light and cheerful harp music. From there, your harpist can select appropriate pieces from her repertoire.

As your guests arrive, they are greeted by the sound - and the sight - of the harp. The prelude music sets the tone for the rest of your ceremony, so it should reflect the style of your wedding.

Processional in Wedding

There are typically three parts to the processional:

  • Seating of parents and grandparents
  • Entrance of Attendants
  • Bridal processional

The ceremonial seating of parents and grandparents signals to the guests the beginning of the actual wedding ceremony. After the last parent is seated the attendants enter.

The final and most important part of the processional is, of course, the bride's entrance. This is where she will be making her grand entrance, so for the bridal processional the harpist usually plays the most stately and majestic of the processional selections. As with the attendants' processional, the bridal processional should be at an easy walking speed.

Events

The harp is the perfect instrument to add something special to any occasion:

  • Weddings
  • Dinners
  • Corporate
  • Private parties

Elena has had a wide experience playing weddings and other functions around Hong Kong, playing for numbers of people ranging from small private dinner parties to 100+ receptions.

Picking music for your wedding is a very personal choice but Elena will offer help and suggestions if you would like a bit of guidance. Her repertoire ranges from classical harp wedding music, light classical through to folk music, jazz arrangements and popular songs. Vocal and harp duo is also available.

Ceremony in Classical Wedding

Depending on the order of ceremony, you may want one or two selections played during the wedding ceremony. Playing as your guests find their seats before the ceremony starts, time depends on venue and what you decide, but as a guide 20mins before the entrance of the Bridal party.

Music during the signing of the register and photos. Music as you 'walk down the aisle' and your guests leave the place. This might be a solo of a special song, background music for the lighting of your unity candle, or a meditative piece after a prayer.

Recessional

Recessional music is played right after the ceremony, as the newly-married couple walks back up the aisle, followed by the wedding party. This piece is joyful and upbeat, celebrating the wedding that has just taken place. From time to time the first recessional is followed by a second similar piece, played as the guests are walking out.

Recessional harp music is played right after the ceremony, as the newly-married couple walks back up the aisle, followed by the wedding party.
